Open Burning Rules - Outside the Air Quality Zone


TO BURN OUTSIDE THE AIR QUALITY ZONE YOU MUST FOLLOW THE RULES BELOW. VIOLATION OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN A FINE OF UP TO $720 FOR THE FIRST VIOLATION
 

Requirements are as follows:
 

  1. The Air Quality Advisory must be “GREEN”. Call 882-BURN (2876) for the Advisory.

  1. No prohibited materials including plastic, rubber, tar, petroleum products, treated or painted wood may be burned.

  1. The burning will be accomplished as quickly as possible and with the minimum amount of smoke produced. 

  1. All burning must occur during daylight hours, may not be started before one hour after sunrise and must be extinguished at least one hour.

  1. The wind must be between 3 and 10 mile per hour (light breeze). Detailed wind information is available at 541-882-8127.

  1. A responsible adult must be present at the fire from first flame until the fire is extinguished and be equipped with the necessary equipment to extinguish the fire if needed. 

  1. You must adhere to all municipal, Local Fire District, State Fire Marshal, and Oregon Department of Forestry DEQ rules, ordinances or restrictions.

  1. Notify 911 at 541-884-4876 before burning.
