Fall Open Burning Window EXTENDED


Weather conditions in the Klamath Basin have allowed for only a few GREEN days for residents to burn yard debris and clippings. Therefore, the 2013 Fall Open Burning Window within the Klamath County Air Quality Zone will be extended until November 17, 2013 at 5:00 pm.
 

The conditions of the Fall 2013 Open Burning Window are:
  • Only residential yard waste, such as tree limbs, brush, and leaves may be burned.
  • Burning of commercial, construction, demolition or industrial waste or purposes requires a special permit from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. Contact DEQ in Bend at (541) 388-6146.
  • No plastic, rubber, tar, petroleum products, treated or painted wood may be burned.
  • All burning must occur between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm and be fully extinguished by 5:00 pm.
  • The Air Quality Advisory must be “GREEN”. The advisory is available by calling 882-BURN (2876).

Please call the advisory at 882-BURN (2876) for a complete list of restrictions including wind speeds, pile size, and required fire prevention measures.

 Check with your local Fire District or the City of Klamath Falls (inside the city limits) for additional restrictions.
