Klamath County Air Quality and Burning Advisory as of Wednesday, October 11, 2017 “Green”

1.            The dates and conditions of the fall open burning widow within the Air Quality Zone have not been set.  When the dates have been set, that information will be provided to the news media and will be recorded on this message.

2.            Until the dates are set, no open burning is allowed inside and outside the Air Quality Zone.

3.            Also, due to fire danger, the Oregon Department of Forestry has restrictions and prohibitions on outdoor burning countywide.  Contact the Oregon Department of Forestry at 883-5681 or your local fire district for more specific information on these restrictions.

4.            Saturday November 4h will be the Fall County Clean Up Day. On that day, brush, wood, leaves and mulch will be accepted at the county landfill (off Old Fort Road) and at the transfer stations for no fee.

5.            The daily heating season advisory regarding the use of woodstoves and fireplaces within the Air Quality Zone will begin October 15, 2017. Until that time the use of wood stoves and fireplaces is allowed unless a special announcement is made stating otherwise.

6.         For a map showing the Air Quality Zone, go to the Klamath County web site at www.co.klamath.or.us and then go to Environmental Health and click on the AQZ map.

Contact the Klamath County Environmental Health Division at 541-883-1122 if you have any questions.
